When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one species to dissolve the natural and apolitical bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of all species on earth requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all species are created for the ecological benefit of all concerned, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, including and not excluding those courageous persons who speak out on behalf of species unable or unwilling to state their case for survival. --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People and the species to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect the Safety and Happiness of all species. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience have shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer and ignore the suffering imposed intentionally or not upon all species, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. --Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to compel their human representatives to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present governments of British Columbia and Canada is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over the Lepidoterae, humans of all kind and ages, and all species that inhabit the planet. Government has refused its Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
Lepidoterae and all other species are governed by the Laws of Nature, unwritten but observable, and only human government, or lack thereof, foregoes Natural Law in favour of an economic benefit that in the end benefits no one, no human, no species.
Bacillus thuringiensis (Btk) is a live microorganism that kills certain insects and is used to kill unwanted insects in forests, agriculture, and urban areas.
In a purified form, some of the proteins produced by Btk are acutely toxic to mammals. However, in their natural form, acute toxicity of commonly-used Btk varieties is limited to caterpillars, mosquito larvae, and beetle larvae.
Btk is closely related to B. cereus, a bacteria that causes food poisoning and to B. anthracis, the agent of the disease anthrax. Few studies have been conducted on the chronic health effects, carcinogenicity, or mutagenicity of Btk.
People exposed to Btk have complained of respiratory, eye, and skin irritation, and one corneal ulcer has occurred after direct contact with a Btk formulation. People also suffer from allergies to the `inert" (secret) ingredients. People with compromised immune systems may be particularly susceptible to Btk.
Viable Btk spores are known to exist for up to one year following application. Insect resistance to Btk has been well documented. Genetic engineering may greatly expand use of Btk, speeding up the development of more resistance.
Foray 48B is registered for aerial spraying over urban populations by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency of Health Canada. The Material Safety Data Sheet for Foray 48B lists as the active ingredients the spores and delta endotoxin crystal produced by the bacteria, Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki (Btk) HD1 strain. Only the spores and endotoxin crystal, not the bacterial cells, are present in the insecticide. In addition to the Btk there are other, inactive (so-called inert) ingredients, not further identified by the manufacturer.
Some of the most serious concerns about widespread use of Btk as a pest control technique come from the effects it can have on animals other than the pest targeted for control. All Btk products can kill organisms other than their intended targets. In turn, the animals that depend on these organisms for food are also impacted.
It is claimed that Btk is a natural insecticide that is found in the soil and is used on organic crops. This is only partly true. While Btk is used somewhat today as an organic pest control, there is increasing awareness in the organic farming community that Btk could be a genetically modifed organism and probably should be avoided. When we eat vegetables or fruits sprayed with Btk, we only swallow a tiny amount of it. During a neighborhood spraying one would expect to inhale more Btk spores in a single breath than would be consumed in a year's worth of food. In addition, Btk is inactivated to some extent by injesting it, but its spores may germinate and temporarily colonize the human respiratory tract after sprayings. Btk insecticidal strains produce protoxin at a level higher than that of the organisms commonly found in soil. The protoxin itself is isolated as a chemical (called crystalline protoxin or parasporal inclusion bodies ) and mixed with the Btk in Foray 48B.
The terror of chemical war devised by humans, tested on humans, and used extensively to control "pest" populations, in fact delivers chemical ordinance that does not hit the target, is distributed into the ecosystem directly or indirectly, and in combination with many different varieties, creates a bio-accumulation of unknown quantity and toxicity.
The argument that there is no known human health effects only confirms that the humans who would sanction chemical war on targeted pests are unable or unwilling to know the effect on themselves and other species.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Government whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Government continues to appear deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, denounce CHEMICAL WAR, and hold government, as we hold the rest of toxic chemical manufacturers, Enemies in Chemical War, in Peace Friends.
